  1. use beef
  2. Swiss Steak and Onions Recipes Ingredients 2 lb. round steak, cut in cut in strips 1 tsp. salt 1/4 tsp. black pepper 1/2 cup flour 3 tbs. margarine 2 onions, sliced 1 cup water 1 clove garlic, minced 1 bay leaf 2 tbs. parsley, finely chopped Preparation Cut round steak into strips. Combine salt, pepper, & flour. Coat steak strips with flour mixture. Pound flour into meat. Place margarine in heavy skillet, add sliced onion & minced garlic. Cook until tender. Remove & set aside. Add a little more margarine to skillet & brown meat on both sides over medium heat. Add water, bay leaf, & parsley. Place sauted onions on top of steak. Cover tightly, cooking slowly for 1-1 1/2 hours or until meat is tender. More water may be added if necessary. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking.
  3. Rub your steak with a little olive oil. Do you have a cast iron skillet? You need one for this. Heat up the oven as hot as it will go, like 500 deg. Heat up the stove on high and put the skillet on it and get it really hot too, just as hot as you can get it. Sear the steak for 2 min on each side. You want to hear it really sizzle when you put it in the pan. Then take the hot pan and put it in the oven for about 10 min. to finish cooking the steak. Put the steak on a plate and put tinfoil over it to keep it warm, and let it 'rest' for 5-10 min. (This is to re-absorb the juices. Otherwise when you cut it the juices will all run out and the steak will be dry and tough.) Baked potatoes are the easiest. Poke the potatoes 10-12 time with a fork to let the steam escape. Put them in the oven at 350 for 1 hr. You can let them sit on the counter while you make the steak, then put them back in the oven to warm up while the steak is resting. Then it's nice to have a salad. I bet you already know how to make that.
  4. This is my personal website which I post recipes to ... check it out, pictures and all, Works everytime !!! http://www.winethatsmine.com/skirtsteak.htm
  5. For a good steak that easy to cook, dry rub is the easy way b/c marinating take awhile for the flavor to sink in. you can buy a dry rub at any grocery store. A good cut to use is a t-bone or NY strip steak. preparing it: use the dry rub to your taste, add some pepper. cooking, i like to use a grill. to know when its done depends on how you like it. well done should not be how the steak ends, up med. well is good. FYI, when you press down on the meat w/ tongs, the firmer it is, the further it is cooked.
  6. If you have a grill (not George Foreman, but a gas or charcoal) I'd suggest grilling it. Personally, I prefer KC strip steaks. A good indicator if a steak is good or not is the price. Try to stay away from a steak that is fairly decent sized (8 to 10 ounces), but that is cheap (around $5). Instead, look for thick steaks that run in the $10 to $15 range each. To marinate, buy a Lowry's marinade - they can usually be found in the aisle that sells condiments, and they come in many flavors. If possible, brush the marinade on the steaks and let them marinate overnight in the fridge. If you don't have time for this, buy a marinade that works in 30 minutes - most Lowry's you only need to marinate for a minimum of 30 minutes. For easy potatos, I'd suggest Betty Crocker instant potatos. They come 2 packages per box and simply need to be added to boiling milk and water. They have flavors like garlic, cheese, and sour cream and chive.
  7. if you get a couple of sirloin steaks just grill them with a little steak spice (in the spice aisle at the grocery store) serve it with baked potatoes and store bought onion rings, a green salad and a nice bottle of wine.
  8. get a new york strip, rib eye, porter house or a t-bone about 1" or 3/4" thick .set it out to let it warm to room temperature,in the meantime prepare all you side dishes such as a fresh garden salad.take a couple cloves of fresh garlic and 1/8 cup extra virgin olive and put the oil in large salad bowl take garlic and mashed with fork ansmear this al over the inside of salad bowl, add your romaine lettuce, fresh radishes, carrotts,a few slices of cucumbers.tomatoe green onion and some black olives, toss with some of the olive oil ,set in frig .next for another side dish prepare a large baking potatoe(best if bake in a cinventional oven )wrap potatoe in foil or if in micro wave wrap in saran wrap, serve this hot with sour cream, real unsalted butter, chives, and season wiyh course black pepper and salt.you will need to cook the steakes last because they will continue to cook when removed from the heat.have you grill real hot and cook your stakes 6 minutes on each side (medium rare) dont sick any thing in steak while its on the grill, turn it only once, have all your table ready with everything in place ready to eat as soon as you bring steaks in hot off the grill.Give God thanks for your delicious meal. You will be pleasantly surprized how good this taste.you can use fresh steamed aspargus as side dish also but it not easy to find the real good aspargus.good luck oh yes you can serve a good red wine with this and while you are preparing the food you can have a couple of glasses of very cold chardonay, serve the red at room temp.
