- Chuck eye is a good CHEAP steak. It's a little fattier, but still good. I love a good baked potato as a side :)
- if you just give him a microwave dinner preferably kid cuisine and serve it to him in your birthday suit he will be happy as a lark.
- Buy some New York Strip or T bone Steak. Find a wholesale club, like Costco. They have excellent steaks and you can get them for $ 8 a pound. Grocery store is much more. Then just use a regular steak seasoning mix and some worchestershire sauce and grill. Sides? Steak and potato. Buy small red potato and roast them in the oven with some rosemary. Or mashed potato. Always a hit!
- Try sirloin steak. I would suggest marinading the steak in something. You can usually find several good marinades in the seasoning aisles and where the BBQ sauce is. As for sides, you can't go wrong with potatoes and/or salad.
- The Rib eyes that I get at the grocery store meat counter are always good, along with their filets (filets are the most tender steak). It all depends on how you prepare it. Steaks area always better on the grill, but if you have to broil it, make sure you turn it every minute. Let it broil for a minute, turn it over, repeat. Season with pepper and Lawry's seasoning salt, for sure. Poke holes in it with a fork before you season. A good side dish with steak is always white rice or garlic mashed potatoes, grilled or steamed asparagus
- Pan roast a thick bone-in ribeye steak. Serve with sauteed mushrooms in a brandy cream sauce. Roast some assorted veggies like potatoes, squash, carrots, parsnips as a side dish.
- have to aggee with the other user's suggestions here.. but also do add a side salad,, and have some western salad dressing on hand for the salads are the best with those salad toppers! oh set the mood with some candlelight and some soft music.. good luck girl..
- the only REALLY good steaks are ribeyes (prime rib with the bone), new york strip or filet. when i used to eat mean I much preffered the ribeye (no bone) and you can usually pick up a couple of those for under $20. to find a couple with good marble (some fat) but no gristle. Find a good meat marinade and let them soak overnight. you'll want to cut about 1 centimeter deep into the steak with crisscross shapes on the top and bottom. that will help the marinade saturate into the meat. For a side dish you can do, salad, baked potatoe, french fries, steamed veggies, mashed potatoes & gravy, asparagus....
- The whole trick to a good steak is to start with a good steak. There are a couple of ways to do this, depending on budget and where you live. Me, I go to a higher end food store (like NOT WAL-MART, or FOOD LION or SAFEWAY, etc.) and find a butcher. Tell him what you are looking for, ask his recommendation, and also for recommendation on how to cook it. Also, go to foodnetwork.com or epicurious.com for side dish suggestions. Personally, I love nothing more than a big baked potato with all the fixins...and a potato just is not that expensive. Spend a little more on the steak. Your boyfreind is lucky to have you for a girlfriend
- Obviously, ribeye, T-bone and Porterhouse are great steaks, but pricier. See if you can find a London Broil; marinate it for a few hours (Lawry's makes great marinades); then put it on the BBQ. When it's done, slice it across the grain, in thin slices ...... Double-baked potatoes can be done ahead, and reheated while you do the steaks. Salad with blue cheese dressing ... Hot fudge sundaes for dessert
- I actually made steak last night and all i did was a chunk of beef marinated with chopped onion, lemon pepper marinate, BBQ sauce and seasonings. it was simple but tasty! *a good side dish could be lettuce salad: you cube 2 tomatoes, slice 2 cucumbers, some parsley and of course lettuce. put a little bit of olive oil, mayonnaise, and a teaspoon of lemon juice or vinegar. mix with dash of salt and you have a salad.
- Well in my opinion the only way to properly cook a steak is on a charcoal grill, so I hope you're somewhere that it's not too cold outside. Start with a good cut of steak like a porterhouse/t-bone or NY Strip. About an hour before you want to put them on the grill, take them out of the fridge and let warm up toward room temperature. Sprinkle with a mix of garlic powder, onion powder, salt and pepper and let sit for an hour or so while the meat and the spices do their thing. Once you get your grill going nicely and there isn't much FLAME on the coals, just glowing coals, spray the grill with non-stick spray and apply a steak. If you never learned the touch test for doneness, I'll share that with you too. If you touch your index finger to your thumb and press the fat pad under your thumb with your other hand, a rare steak will feel about like that. Middle finger to thumb will be med-rare to medium, ring finger to thumb will be more like med-well and pinky to thumb more like well done. If your man likes steak sauce, have some available, but most of the time you don't need it. A boiled red potatoes with butter, parsley and parmesan cheese and a vegetable of your choice would round out your dinner nicely. Don't forget something decadent for dessert!
- Steak can be expensive. The better more expensive cuts are the more tender meat. Sirloin is a reasonably priced steak that the meat is tender. Leave your steak out for about 20-30 minutes before you cook it to get to the chill off it. It cooks better this way. Kosher, Salt, Garlic Powder, Onion Powder, and Cracked Black Pepper on both sides. Fry in butter in a hot skillet. Cook until how you like it done. I like mine medium rare so just press the top it should feel like the soft part of the palm of your hand. The more firmer it feels, the more it's cooked. Let it sit for 10-15 minutes after you cook it so the juices get redistributed. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Sides can be simple and inexpensive. Get some zuchhini's - slice and saute in butter or olive oil with some garlic. Add garlic towards the end, because you don't want to brown it. Then sprinkle with some salt and pepper. You can have a nice rice pilaf too...here is a basic recipe that isn't too expensive to make either. BASIC RICE PILAF This recipe may be cut in half successfully. 4 tbsp. butter 1c. orzo (a pasta) 1.5 c. long grain rice 1.2 tsp. salt 1 tsp. ground black pepper 5 c. chicken broth Melt butter over medium heat in large saucepan. Stir in the orzo until golden brown. Add the rice, salt and pepper. Add chicken broth to rice mixture. Turn to high heat until rice comes to a boil, cover and turn heat to low, simmer 20 minutes or until rice is fluffy and all liquid is absorbed. Let the pilaf sit 10 minutes off heat before serving.
- First off check your meat department for steaks, and prices. When I was on a strict budget I ended up getting some flank steaks (not bad, but not like sirloins). Also get some steak seasoning which is like $1.50 a pack on the seasoning aisle, I think you also need vinegar to be able to mix the seasoning just check the back of the package. I actually think the brand name is Ol' Monterrey or something of that sort. Let the steaks marinate in this seasoning for about an hour or so. There are also all sorts of cheap sides you can make. You can get canned sides and season them really well. Also if you want to check for recipes in the future go to www.allrecipes.com . I use this website for a lot of cooking ideas, and just about everything I have tried on this site is delish! Good Luck!!
- All of the above suggestions are great --- but most led you to the highest priced steaks, Rib Eye, T Bone, NY Strip, etc. Those are great, but can you afford them??? A good alternative is Top Round or London Broil. Get a good thick one. Fork it about 25 times with a fork then marinate it in an herb or steakhouse marinade that you find (or plain A1 is good too) and let it soak for about 2 hours to 24 hours. Take it out of the marinade and grill it on a HOT grill or in a hot skillet. 8 mins per side for broiler 6-7 mins per side for skillet 8 mins per side for grill Let REST before slicing, about 10 mins.

- We love Pork Shoulder Blade Steak. Where we are it comes in 2 big slices averaging 1 pound each. We get a package of 2 for around $3.00 I prepare them by using a fork and poking holes all over both steaks on both sides so the marinade will be able to get in the middle better(gives it more flavor in the middle of the steak) then marinade them for 45 mins to an hour in a pan on the counter.(You want to keep them room temp. If you put them in the fridge and then take them out and put them straight in the oven is causes the meat to get really tough). I use enough Worcestershire to mostly cover the steaks(if marinading for an hour, you will want to flip the steaks half way through) and I also use Lawry's Teriyaki with pineapple juice in the marinade and as the basting sauce. Soooo good. Put them in the oven at 350 degrees for between 1 to 1 1/2 hours(depends on your stove.) I usually baste them in the teriyaki sauce about every 15 mins, just put a nice coat over the top. I do not flip them once they are in the oven. Makes great presentation. Whatever fat is on the side I just cut it off. I also use a pan with a wire rack, so the little bit of fat can drip off. These steaks have replaced ribeye steak in our house. They taste great! They are REALLY cheap and the way I fix them they come out sooo juicy and tender! You will not be sorry :) Yummy! Goodluck! If you want it a tad sweeter add about a teaspoon of brown sugar to the marinade before you add the steaks. Sides: We normally just eat a loaded baked potato and a salad.
- a flank steak is a very good and affordable piece of meat. preparation of this starts with completely drying the meat with paper towels, then rubbing it down with olive oil and salt and pepper. after this step, you want to let it rest on the counter while you prep the side. the closer it gets to room temp. before cooking the better. grilling this meat is the way to go, but if you can't grill it then in a saute pan on the stovetop will work(cast iron would be ideal). the trick with this is getting the pan smoking hot(the pan can't get to hot). 3-4 minutes per side should give you a nice medium-rare, adjust time according to your preference. just do you and your boyfriend a favor and do not cook it well done. this cut of meat is not meant for well done. after cooking, set aside and cover with tin foil (very important) and let it rest for at least ten minutes. after resting you will want to serve this steak cut on the bias AGAINST the grain and shingled on the plate. as far as sides go, oven roasted red potatoes tossed in olive oil and salt and pepper is very nice and reminds a man he's a man. steak and potatoes baby!but if you want to try something different, try a tomato, cucumber and red onion salad tossed in a little olive oil and balsamic vinaigrette. you could also add a little fresh mozzarella to give it that gourmet touch. i hope this helped and good luck. remember that in cooking preparation is key so just set yourself up and you'll be fine.
